Sabato 18 Febbraio COVO CLUB – BOLOGNA

Brooklyn trendsetters return with this excellent third album… There’s always been a smooth, upbeat tone to their indie-pop, and here strings, horn and synths are thrown into the mix on thumping tracks like Same Mistake and Into Your Alien Arms.”

Uncut – 4 Stars ****

From the thundering ‘Into Your Alien Arms’ to the majestic ‘In a Motel’, they sound nothing less than masterful”.

The Fly – 4 Stars ****

Clap Your Hands Say Yeah have returned rejuvenated and ready to be indie titans once more. If ‘Hysterical’ doesn’t make you swoon, you clearly have no soul.”

ARTROCKER – 4 Stars ****

Hysterical is their finest record to date… huge in scope and song-craft, delivered by a band displaying a maturity to add to the promise of their 2005 debut… Their future starts now.”

Clash – 8/10

an indie-rock treasure chest… From the bouncy ‘Same Mistake’ to the darkly nostalgic ballad ‘Misspent Youth’ it’s a comeback as happy-inducing as its title suggests”

NME – 7/10

Their sound has been polished and honed… Propulsive guitar hooks married to soaring synths give proceedings an unexpected pop sheen… Ounsworth’s vocals remain heartbreaking and absolutely unique.”

The Sun – 4 Stars ****

Same Mistake is irresistible, open road stuff, while Misspent Youth achieves a kind of heroic melancholy.”

Q – 3 Stars ***

Hysterical finds the band turbo-charging their breakneck drums, whirligig guitars and Plastic Bertrand vocals with a great care for melody… It’s a decent return on the band’s early promise”

MOJO – 3 Stars ***

A sophisticated effort… There are echoes of U2 at their most introspective in the mournful tone of Misspent Youth, and the string-drenched In a Motel recalls late-era Beatles”

The Times – 3 Stars ***

A rest is as good as change for these New Yorkers, who return after four years not reinvented but re-invigorated… a buff and giddy statement of resurgent intent.”

The Independent

a great third album”
